College application the focus at Sunnyvale event

With holiday season fast approaching, and college application deadline just around the corner, many high school juniors and seniors – and their parents – across the West Valley may be wondering about the best strategies for success.

For every student, applying to college can be a frustrating and time-intensive process filled with lots of information from lots of sources. One upcoming event in Sunnyvale this week, a revamp of a similar event earlier this year, is hoping to help quell some of these anxieties and provide useful information to upcoming applicants.

Fremont High School’s Shannon Theater in Sunnyvale, 575 W. Fremont Ave, will host the event, set for Thursday, November 21. It will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The worksop will cover how to select the right college list, strategies for writing and submitting applications, insight on the interview process, and more information on good resources for handling the endeavor.

Other events in our region in recent months have pushed to give students more information and control over the application process, including forums in Palo Alto and at Monta Vista High in Cupertino.

Presented by the Fremont High School Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA), Syrous Parsay will be the featured speaker. Mr. Parsay is a mentor to numerous college students and corporate executives.
