Local school drama productions in full swing

Each fall and spring, the time-honored tradition of school plays returns. Three West Valley schools have productions starting this weekend, with fun for the whole family.

Starting Arts, the non-profit arts organization that supports arts in public schools, is the sponsor of two sets of performances in the West Valley this weekend. Additionally, students at Monta Vista High School in Cupertino will show their skills at another run.

Alice in Wonderland – Regnart Elementary

At William Regnart Elementary, 1170 Yorkshire Dr. in Cupertino, Starting Arts is performing Alice in Wonderland, focused on the legendary story of Alice and her adventures amidst a chaotic set of supporting characters. Performances left in the run:

  • Friday, November 8, at 6:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 9, at 2 p.m.

The Lion King – Campbell’s Starbright Theater

Down the road in Campbell, Starting Arts will perform a junior production of the Lion King, the renowned show about Simba and Nala, set on the African savannah. Held at the Starbright Theater, 1770 W Campbell Ave., there are a number of performances this weekend:

  • Thursday, November 7, at 7:30 p.m.
  • Friday, November 8, at 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 9, at 1 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 9, at 4 p.m.
  • Sunday, November 10, at 1 p.m.
  • Sunday, November 10, at 4 p.m.

The Marriage – Monta Vista High School

Through this weekend and the following one, Cupertino students from Monta Vista High will be performing The Marriage by Nikolai Gogol, a comedy about an unsatisfied bachelor who hires a matchmaker and the hilarious steps that follow. Monta Vista High’s theater will host the show, 21840 McClellan Rd. in Cupertino. Upcoming performances:
