A local West Valley group is organizing an event for this weekend, seeking to divert used bicycles away from landfills.
GreenTown Los Altos has set up the drop off drive event, known as ReCycle Bike Drive, which has helped bring bikes to new families for more than 20 years.
Volunteers at the event receive the gently used bikes and clean them, tune and make minor repairs, and then find new homes for the bicycles.
This non-profit organization, which is focused on creating more an environmentally sustainable community, has a mission “To educate and inspire the people of Los Altos and Los Altos Hills to take action that will make our communities more environmentally healthy and vibrant today and for future generations.”
The ReCycle Bike Drive is set for this Saturday, November 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. GreenTown is hosting the event at Los Altos High School, 201 Almond Ave.
