A local elected official has been implicated in a recent hit-and-run incident in the West Valley.

Santa Clara County Sheriff Deputies cited Saratoga Councilmember Rishi Kumar in late September for the incident. Kumar is also actively running against Congresswoman Anna Eshoo (D-CA-18) in the 2020 primary.

The misdemeanor hit-and-run included property damage, according to information first reported by San Jose Inside.

Kumar’s accident, which apparently involved three vehicles took place near the intersection of Wolfe Rd. and Pruneridge Ave. in north Cupertino near the Apple Headquarters. Kumar apparently drove away from the accident without properly exchanging insurance information with the other drivers.

San Jose Inside reports that Kumar is cooperating with law enforcement. Kumar has also been cited for speed limit violations twice in the last five years.

  1. Shame on you.

  2. I would cut him some slack given the infectious greed in the society as soon as they figure out who was involved in the accident!
We do not know exactly what do the parties involved in the accident exactly mean when they claim that “proper info was not shared.”
As for the driving violations, they involve getting tickets for driving over 10mph! Seriously, can the critics prove that they have NEVER driven by bet the speed limit? Get real with what you expect from leaders!

    • I think you should look at the comments in the Sanjoseinsider article. One of them is by the many Kuram hit! He said both cars were very damaged and Rishi knowingly fled the scene with the hood of his Tesla badly damaged. So yes, he fled the scene.

  3. what is it with these low level politicians who think the laws do not apply to them? Unfit for office is my conclusion.

  4. If it is actually a misdemeanor hope the system works impartially and there be consequences.
