For many residents, figuring out what to do with left over medications or unwanted prescription pills can prove to be a headache. With the ongoing opioid crisis across the country, having excess medication in the house can be a recipe for danger.
Mountain View is hoping to take the guesswork out of the way with an even this weekend. On Saturday, October 26, the Mountain View Police Department is hosting a prescription drug take back event, with the added bonus of on-site document shredding.
Unwanted, unused, or expired prescriptions can be brought to the drop off site for disposal. Up to two banker boxes of documents with sensitive or personal identifying information can be brought to the on-site shredding portion of the event as well. No electronics recycling is available at this event.
Both services are free of charge. October 26 is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
The parking lot in front of the Mountain View Police Department, 1000 Villa St., will host the event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
