College admissions expert to separate fact from fiction

Applying for colleges can be stressful, confusing, and full of various different signals, both for students and family members. Add in financial aid programs and it is easy to get overwhelmed.

A former co-founder of the world-famous Princeton Review is set to split the mythology of college admissions processes from the reality at an event in Palo Alto this week.

Paul Kanarek, who is now CEO of Collegewise, a college admissions consulting firm, has spent more than 30 years in the test preparation field and as an expert in the university testing and admissions process.

At this week’s event, set for Thursday, October 24, Kanarek will highlight facts and fictions regarding college affordability and admissions, attempting to clarify the process for attendees and guide folks away from common misconceptions and mistakes.

Henry M. Gunn High School’s Spangenberg Auditorium, 780 Arastradero Rd., will host the event, which runs from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday.
