As the school year approaches and families prepare for homework and tests, the Santa Clara County Office of Education is holding an event focused on a particularly under-served community: youth in foster care or those facing housing instability.
For young people in foster care, or those in families struggling to make ends meet, getting prepared for a new school year can be financially impossible or seem far from the top priority.
The Office of Education event, for these youth and their immediate families, will have school supply distribution, health screenings, and information on housing support, education programs, legal aid, and job placement assistance.
It is set for Saturday, August 10, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cypress Community Center, 403 Cypress Ave. in San Jose.
