The Cupertino Chamber has announced the winners of its annual STAR Awards, which recognizes local businesses and residents for their contributions to the community.
Among those honored is Fremont Union High School District (FUHSD) Superintendent Polly Bove, who was named Citizen of the Year for efforts spanning more than a decade. They include the launching in 2015 of a Community Taskforce on Student Wellness, which helped relocate the Adult School program to Sand Hill Property Company’s Vallco Mall. Last year, Bove created a Citizen Advisory Committee to “study the enrollment needs of the district for long-term planning,” according to a statement by the Cupertino Chamber.
The Business of the Year STAR recipients are Comcast, the Cupertino Historical Society, and HSBC Bank. Former Mayor and ChargePoint co-founder Richard Lowenthal will receive the notable President’s Award.
Recipients will celebrate at the STAR Awards bash on Saturday, April 28 at the Residence Inn by Marriott, 19429 Stevens Creek Blvd. The event is open to the public and will include “no-host cocktails” at 6 p.m. and dinner from 7 to 10 p.m. Reservations are due by April 20. Tickets can be purchased here or through the Chamber (408) 252-7054. For more information about the STAR Awards, click here.
