A nationwide wreath-laying celebration will take place on Dec. 16 at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Los Altos.
Wreaths Across America is an annual ceremony designated to remember and honor fallen U.S. veterans. Every year on Dec. 16, the ceremony takes place at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at over 1,200 additional locations in America, according to the Wreaths Across America website.
At the event, people are encouraged to place a wreath on a veteran’s grave, say their names and take a moment to thank them for their service.
The American Legion Stevens Creek Post 642 is hosting the event. People who would like to purchase a wreath can send $15 to American Legion Post 642 P.O. Box 302 Cupertino, CA 95015.
Several public officials and members of the military will attend and speak at the event. Refreshments and music will also be provided.
