The City of Cupertino’s Fine Arts Commission is accepting applications for its Distinguished and Emerging Artist awards. Applications are due by Friday, September 22 at 4:30 p.m.
Each year, the Fine Arts Commission presents awards to artists in recognition of local talents in the fields of visual, verbal and performing arts in an effort to encourage artistic expression and achievement. The Emerging Artist Award recognizes artistic promise of younger artists and those rediscovering their love of artistic expression later in life, while the Distinguished Artist Awards recognizes those who have a substantial body of work, which displays merit and excellence as well as a history of artistic contributions to the community.
A cash prize of $1,000 is awarded to Distinguished Artists and $750 to Emerging Artists. Recipients of the prize must be willing to work with the commission to promote art in Cupertino by participating in relevant events.
All artists must live or work in Cupertino, practice their art in the City or attend an educational institution physically located in Cupertino. For more details about the awards including how to apply, visit the City of Cupertino’s website.
