As persistent rain fell on the Bay Area Monday mixed with strong winds, Santa Clara County officials warned drivers to reduce their speed and publicized information on where local residents can obtain sandbags.

Still, the conditions have caused a messy commute as well as flash flood warnings.

A Flash Flood watch was issued for the North Bay mountains and valleys from noon today to late tonight, according to the National Weather Service. Periods of heavy rain in the Bay Area are expected until tonight, with widespread lighter rain forecast for tomorrow.

Winds are also expected to be strong this evening, with breezy conditions expected Tuesday.

In Cupertino, sandbags can be accessed at the City Corporation Yard, 10555 Mary Ave., from Monday to Fri. 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For after hours, call the County Communications (408) 299-2507.
