Tomorrow’s City Council meeting will swear in the next Cupertino Mayor and Vice Mayor. The meeting will be at 6:45 p.m. at Community Hall.

Every year, Cupertino’s five-member city council chooses two of their own to serve as Mayor and Vice Mayor for a one-year team. Current Mayor Savita Vaidhyanathan, who was elected to City Council in 2014, is completing her first term as mayor.

The Mayor signs official documents, chairs council meetings and acts as the official head of the city at public and ceremonial occasions.

Nominations for the new Mayor and Vice Mayor will take place during the City Council meeting and will be followed by a reception in the lobby and a recess. The meeting will resume after the recess.

The last City Council meeting of the year will be on Tuesday, Dec. 19. For more information about tomorrow night’s meeting, click here
